Giovanni Griggio is the founder of Phi Design Lab, his studies began with the achievement of a degree Bachelor’s in Furniture Design at the Politecnico di Milano and continued with a specialization in Naval Design and Nautical at the University of Genoa, La Spezia pole.
In 2012, after completing his studies with a thesis developed under the supervision of Eng. Carlo Nuvolari, continued to collaborate with the Nuvolari & Lenard studio for the development of the project of a semi-planing boat of 20 meters.
Later he moved to Sardinia where he started working as a Project Manager in the Maori Yachts shipyard, this experience allowed him to have a general view of all the production phases, being directly involved from the signing of the contract to the final delivery to the customer.
In 2014 he decided to found Phi Design Lab wishing to create a young design studio with ideas innovative that break away from the conventional lines presented by other designers.
Parallel to the freelance activity as a Designer, at the end of 2017, he started a constant collaboration with the shipyard Tender Works, in the Netherlands.
This experience allowed him to emerge in this particular sector until he can create in the course of 2020 a couple of units for the Zen project, 88 mt of Feadship.
In addition to the aesthetic development as an internal designer on the shipyard, he was also a protagonist in the engineering phases of several other projects. Having the opportunity to analyze all the problems in the production process developed considerable ability to prevent any critical issue by looking for the best compromise between creativity and executive feasibility and he also had the opportunity to expand his knowledge in high-performance composite materials.
